On 15 April in Bordeaux, Inria will be holding an Inria-Industry meetings event on the theme of ‘digital industries for health’. This event will be held concurrently with the IHE Connectathon, the annual European meeting on data standardisation in the health sector. To mark the occasion, Philippe Gesnouin looks back at Inria's research work and technological contributions in the sector, and discusses the choice of the Aquitaine basin as the ideal venue for these meetings.

Inria-Industry Meetings
For fifteen years, Inria has organized the "Inria-Industry Meetings," national topical events during which Inria presents its research and technology transfer offering to companies of a given sector, primarily for SMEs.
These events are organized several times per year, in partnership with the competitiveness clusters involved in the topic. As such, industry players in commerce, healthcare, software security, transport, and or numerical simulation, for example, have come together in recent years at the various Inria research centers in France to discuss their issues of innovation.

Bruno Sportisse was named Director of technology transfer and innovation on 1 January 2008. He is in charge of technology dissemination in order to strengthen the institute's socio-economic impact. Start-ups spun off from Inria Nancy - Grand-Est
Forming a technology company is a preferred method for transforming research results into innovative business activities. Since 1984, nearly 100 companies have been created at Inria in this way. A dozen of these have come from the Inria Nancy - Grand-Est research centre. Some of these companies are hosted by the technology transfer space at the Inria research centre in Nancy.
