François Baccelli: network wizard
A graduate of the ENST, he submitted a PhD thesis in 1983 on "probabilistic models for distributed systems". He joined Inria in 1987. He led the research group on modelling and simulation of computer systems at the Sophia-Antipolis research centre until 1998. Today, he heads up the TREC project-team.

Gérard Berry: How the world is turning digital
A graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines, he completed a PhD in mathematics in 1979. In 1980 he joined Inria, where much of his research work centred around the development of the Esterel language. This language is used to explain the temporal synchronisation of tasks and prove that they are correctly executed.

Olivier Faugeras: from computer vision to neurosciences
A graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the ENST, Olivier Faugeras obtained a PhD from the University of Utah in 1976. With a doctorate in sciences from Paris VI University, he joined Inria (Sophia Antipolis) as a senior research scientist in 1981.
