Conférence à la Royal Society
Computational Medical Imaging : towards a Virtual Physiological Patient
Nicholas Ayache, directeur de recherche Inria Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée, donnera une conférence à la Royal Society le 4 novembre prochain sur le thème : "Computational Medical Imaging : towards a Virtual Physiological Patient".
Nicholas Ayache a été lauréat du Prix Microsoft 2008 décerné par la Royal Society et l'Académie des Sciences.
Invité par la Royal Society dans le cadre du cycle de conférences « Computational Frontiers in scientific discovery », Nicholas Ayache, éminent scientifique d'Inria, exposera les problématiques et les défis à relever par l'informatique pour répondre aux enjeux de la médecine de demain. Le "patient numérique personnalisé", au coeur de la conférence, est l'un de ces enjeux.
Abstract :
During the past decades, medical images have become increasingly more complex, and their automated analysis has required the development of innovative sophisticated computational models. I will describe this evolution, from the early geometrical models to the most recent statistical, biophysical and even functional multi-level and multi-scale models of patient's anatomy and physiology. I will show how Computational Medical Imaging could contribute in the future to a paradigm shift, from reactive standardized medicine to more preventive, predictive and personalized medicine. The talk will be illustrated, on several clinical topics including neuro-radiology, neuro-oncology, interventional cardiology, orthopedics or digestive micro-endoscopy, by recent advances obtained by our research team with academic, clinical and industrial partners.
