Séminaire : Modélisation et Calcul Scientifique

A reduced order approach based on numerical scattering transform

  • Date : 13/11/2012

In this seminar a reduced order approach is presented, which is based on a set of space-time evolving modes, defined by means of a numerical approximated scattering transform. In the first part, the state of the art of model reduction is recalled, mainly focusing on the problems arising when an efficient representation of progressive waves is sought. Then, some key properties of the scattering transform are introduced and the numerical approximation adopted is detailed. In the last part of the seminar several numerical experiments are commented, in which the technique is applied to partial differential equations, such as KdV, FKPP and 1D Euler flows on networks to model arterial blood flow.
