This is expected to be the first workshop in a series, co-organized by INRIA, IBM T. J. Watson Reseaerch Center, and UC Berkeley, and sponsored, in part, by the NSF Digital Library Initiative phase 2.
This two-day workshop will consists of both position statement presentations by the workshop participants and breakout sessions on focused topics, attended by approximately 35 distinguished researchers from both academia and industry and from both Europe and United States. Partial support for the workshop and US participant expenses are expected to be covered via a grant from the NSF Digital Libraries Initiative.
This workshop will provide a forum for active researchers in this area to exchange ideas on the most recent research progress and challenges in the area of multimedia content browsing, indexing and retrieval.
